Traineeship Overview

Traineeships Qld is an ideal opportunity for young people (school-based trainee or mature age) individual who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for. Traineeship training is available across non-trades: 

  • Business
  • Business Administration (general, legal, medical) 
  • Recordkeeping
  • Retail
  • ICT – information technology and digital media 
Traineeship Training Cost are reduced as a Qld Government Funded Program is available plus Business Success Group provides cost effective training solutions. Zero employer or co-contribution fees. Trainee course training cost is fixed at $1.60 / nominal training hour.

In Queensland, Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships are administered by the Department of Education and Training (DET).  You can undertake an Australian Apprenticeship while you are still at school - school based apprenticeships or traineeships, if you are an early school-leaver, re-entering the workforce, or as an adult worker simply wishing to change careers.

Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships are delivered through a cooperative arrangement between the Australian Government, State (Traineeships Queensland) and Territory Governments, industry, employers and Registered Training Organisations; they are established in conjunction with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) and employers who formalise an employment and training contract. Australian Apprenticeship funding (User Choice) is available for eligible students.

The Australian Government supports Australian Apprenticeships through a number of support programs.

BSG has online learning Programs allows for flexible participation as we are online you can commence your studies at any time as learners have access to their eLearning resources 24 hours a day. Individual training plans are developed together with the Australian Apprentice and employer prior to commencement, to ensure the completion of positive learning outcomes within the contracted timeframe.

Qualified trainers and assessors with subject expertise and currency of skill are delegated to facilitate the BSG student learning experience!

 

For Employees

An Australian Apprenticeship includes both apprenticeships and traineeships.  Both involve a vocational education and training program that focuses on giving people the skills and experience that are Industry recognized.

Apprenticeships and traineeships can be full-time, part-time or school-based.

  • Australian Apprenticeships (including traineeships) involve paid work and structured training that can be on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both
  • Workplace learning on-the-job under a workplace supervisor, as well as off-the-job with a Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).
  • Study towards a nationally recognised qualification and obtain a trade certificate when you finish.
  • Represent ‘competency based’ training which means individuals can complete their training faster when they reach the required skills level
  • Enable existing skills and prior experience to be recognised (RPL) and course credit granted, potentially reducing formal training time.

Australian Apprentices are the same as for other employees working in similar occupations. This includes hours of work, overtime, holidays, personal leave, superannuation and other penalty provisions.

 

For Employers

The flexibility of apprenticeships and traineeships offers employers the opportunity to help build a pool of high quality future recruits for your sector. Developed with employers, a flexible approach means apprenticeships and traineeships are both tailored to the needs of the business and the individual.

  • Training costs are subsidized by government funding (User Choice).
  • Employers hiring Australian Apprentices may be eligible to receive incentive payments under the Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program.

Incentive payments are made when Australian Apprentices commence, recommence and complete their training.  

Commonwealth incentives are subject to eligibility criteria, waiting periods and time limits being met. Your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) offer free advice and support to employers but will also assess employer eligibility for incentives.
